She was born on October 13, 1933 in South Bend, Indiana to George and Gertrude Barkman and grew up in Austin, Indiana. She and her late husband of sixty years, Samuel, moved to Lake Wales forty-four years ago from Indiana. She was a homemaker and for ma ny years worked for Long's Dry Cleaners in Lake Wales. She was a wonderful seamstress and pianist. She attended the Golfview Baptist Church. Since Sam's passing, she enjoyed her life at Savannah Court of Lake Wales with the special friendships of residents and staff. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother to her daughters Peggy W. Foster and husband Stanley of Palm Bay and Patty Boatman and fiancé Stephen Salvo of Merritt Island, four grandchildren, Wendy Gugle, Shannon Odom, Andrew Merritt, and Benjamin Boatman, two great- grandchildren, Bethany Malady and Miles Merritt, and her sisters-in-law Delores Durham and husband Joseph, Bonnie Tolbert and husband Bert, and Sharon Kayl and husband Jerry, all of California. She was born in Lulu, FL on Nov. 27, 1923 to Raymond & Mattie Pearce. Estelle grew up in Dundee and lived in the Haines city area all of her life. She retired from Green Clinic after many years of service. She loved spending time with family and friends . She was devoted to her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Estelle was preceded in death by husbands, Carl L. Markuson and James M. Waters; mother & father, Raymond and Mattie Pearce; sister, Delores Howell; daughter, Sandra Carter; and grandson, Brian Carter. HELEN MILDRED FIENGA, 76 POLK CITY - Helen Mildred Fienga, 76, entered the gates of heaven on April 11, 2014. Her valiant battle against cancer ended peacefully while in the care of Good Shepherd Hospice, Auburndale, Florida. Helen, often heard saying "Oh, for Heaven's sake," was born in 1938 in Long Island, NY. She moved to Polk City, FL in 1979. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lou Musciano and Patricia Lynn Haber, her sons William Fienga and Edward Fienga, as well as 7 grandchildren and one great granddaughter, Makenna Scott. Helen, a creative campfire cooker who never lost her "spice of life" (or "Yankee accent,") was predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Fienga, her daughter Joan Fienga, her parents Henry and Mildred of Vero Beach, FL, and her brother Carl of Leesburg, SC. Helen, who never met a grandkid she didn't love, was a loving, fun, and generous mother, grandmother and friend. AGNES T. WEBER, 93 KISSIMMEE - Agnes T. Weber, 93, passed away on May 1, 2014 in Marble Falls, Texas from heart failure. Agnes was born on December 15, 1920 in Cynthiana, Indiana to Kenneth and Nadine Carroll Turman and graduated from Indiana University in December of 1944. Agnes was a member of Tri Kappa and Alpha Omicron Pi sororities and was a Daughter of the American Revolution. On December 26, 1943 Agnes married Dr. Douglas Weber, the love of her life. For over 30 years Doc practiced dentistry in Michigan City, Indiana and Agnes was his office manager. It was a great joy for both of them that their son, Dr. Douglas W. Weber and, as of July 1, 2014, their grandson, Dr. David Weber, would be following them as three generations of Michigan City dentists. Agnes and Doug were also avid golfers and bridge players. Agnes was Ladies Golf Club Champion at the Pottawatomie C ountry Club in 1953 and she and Doug were Silver Life Masters of the American Contract Bridge League. They would continue to play golf and bridge together into their 90s, after retiring to Florida, where they were both elders and devoted members of the L ake Hamilton Presbyterian Church. Agnes is predeceased by her parents; son, Dr. Anthony K. Weber, who also practiced medicine in Michigan City and her brother, William Turman of Colorado. Agnes is survived by her children, Rev. Sally Anderson, Dr. Douglas W. Weber; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Hamilton Presbyterian Church in Lake Hamilton, Florida with Dr. Ray Larson officiating. Ted enjoyed traveling, golf, playing the accordion & especially spending time with his grandchildren & gt. grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Jeanette; brother Leonard & sister Bernadine. Born March 18, 1929 in Willards, MD to the late John and Helen Gravenor Tindle, she was a graduate of Pittsville High School, MD. She was a seamstress and a homemaker. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George H. Short; her second husband, Charles Murray; two brothers, Alfred and Randolph Tindle; a sister, Alice Tindle. She will be remembered and missed by her children to George Short, Elizabeth "Liz" and Jeff Leach of Chippewa Twp., Victor H. and Kris Short of NC, John G. and Louise Short of FL. and Diane and Don Derrickson of DE; her step-children to Charles Murray, Peggy Anne and Eugene West of DE, Linda and Joe Ford of CA and Wayne and Margie Murray of DE; a sister, Evelyn and Maurice (Tinker) Lewis of DE; grandchildren, step- grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. Frances truly enjoyed her life. She enjoyed several hobbies and past-times that included, bowling, fishing, crafts and sewing. She was known for her sense of humor and her strong opinions. She drew strength from her Methodist faith and was fond of the v erse Psalm 23. Her life was a journey, not a destiny that allowed her to reside and make friends from Pittsville, MD to Lewes, DE to Dundee, FL to St. John Specialty Care in Mars where she lived for the last three years. Per her wishes, there will be no public visitation and a private memorial service will be held for family at a future date in Delaware. Mary came to Lakeland in 1929 from Coopers, Alabama with her family K.C. and Georgia Foshee. In 1939, she married Tom Matthews and they started their family. They started a bait company and sold worms and shiners to local businesses in the Polk County area. Mary worked for the Kathleen Senior High lunchroom and then was a salesperson at her brother's store Foshee Jewelers. Her greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. She loved to bowl and was a long time member of Bethel Baptist Church. She had a big heart full of love and will be deeply missed by those who knew her. Mary was preceded in death by her parents K.C. and Georgia Foshee, her brother Julius, her son Larry T. Matthews and granddaughter Tara Matthews. She leaves behind her children; Jimmy Matthews, and Ella Matthews-Keeble, her brother Clyde Foshee and sist ers; Barbara Hunt and Loretta Britt. Summers, 79, of Fort Wayne, IN and longtime winter resident of Lakeland, Florida, died on Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Lakeland, FL after her battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Rock and Josedna Prescott. Joyce worked in food service with Ft. Wayne Community Schools for 29 years, retiring in 1997. She was a longtime member of Taylor Chapel UMC in Ft. Wayne and current member at Trinity UMC in Lakeland. Joyce was an avid shuffleboard and card player but her first love was her family. Surviving are her daughter, Roxanne (Milt) Yoquelet of Ft. Wayne; son, Marc (Laura) Summers of Panama City, Panama; two brothers, Dale and Philip Prescott; sister, Phyllis Collins, six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. KEVIN EDWARD "EDDIE" FLEMING, 43 LAKELAND- Kevin Edward "Eddie" Fleming, 43, passed away into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 1, 2014 at LRMC from a head trauma. Kevin was born in High Point, NC but spent the majority of his life in Seffner, FL where he attended Armwood Senior High School. He later moved to Lakeland after the birth of his children to be closer to his parents. Throughout the years, Kevin was an avid sports fan but he felt most at peace and closest to God on the water while surfing. Kevin is survived by many family and friends including wife, Karla Bedard Fleming; children, Kaisy, Karma, Christian and Grace Fleming; parents A.L. and Fay Freeman; sister, Paula Jay Drennan; brother, Kenneth Stephanie Fleming; nieces, Ashley and Lily Fleming; nephews, Griffin Drennan and Max Burzumato; grandmother, Margie Nixon; and uncles, William Locklear and Michael Locklear. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday May 8th at Gibsonia Baptist Church, 5440 US 98 N. Lakeland Florida at 6pm. IMOGENE M. KALMAN, 86 LAKELAND- Imogene Kalman, 86, of Lakeland, and former resident of OH, passed away peacefully Mon., May 5, 2014 at her home due to natural causes. Imogene was born March 10, 1928 in Titusville, PA. She moved from OH to Lakeland 34 yrs. ago & became a member of St. Anthony's Parrish. She worked for Eckerd Drugs for 7 yrs. & Publix Gift Certificates for 13 yrs. & retired in 2001. She enjoyed count cross-stitching, dancing, & collecting Thomas Kinkade Christmas pieces. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Jeanette, former husband Ted, parents, Lillian & Lloyd Bodamer, & sister Lavonne. She is survived by 4 children Theo (Susan) of CO. Mark (Ana) of Auburndale, Christine (Lou), & Lisa (Rick) both of Lakelan d, 10 grandchildren & 2 gt. grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
